They bought some muck land at Cambria near Lockport.
The muck land was pure peat, which is very rich. It produced huge and flavorful vegetables.
It seems that they had food in quantity if not variety. Mary used to tell about the
huge and sweet carrots they grew. Ruth told that she wouldn't eat carrots
because that was all they ate when they they lived on the muck farm!
