Genealogy: These are the parents of Saphronia Naphus Hollenbeck,
who was the mother of Emma Lillian Hollenbeck Pettit,
the matriarch of the Pettit family group.

That is, these are the great-grandparents of Harold Pettit,
Mary Pettit Harris, Hazel Pettit Kelley, & Marguerite Pettit Nash.

This is a copy of a tintype photo.
They began using this process for photos in the U. S. in 1856,
and it became popular in the 1860s.
