Somebody had some baby rabbits, and Patty wanted one. She had 63¢, and talked them into selling her one.
That was how the Harris' got into the rabbit business during WWII. As it turned out, they provided most of the
meat for the family during 1943 or 1944. ( Tastes just like chicken. )
We had a large garden, an orchard, a rose garden, lots of flowers, and a shady front yard in Fontana. That's
where Patty got started in scouting. The leader let her go to brownie meetings before she was old enough to
join. And a friend, Joyce Curtis worked at the swimming pool in town. She would take Patty with her most summer
days and this is where she learned to swim.
