Tending To Her Knitting — c. 1948

In the fall of 1942, Ruth and Patty went to Prince Rupert, B. C.
The journey included about 3 days on a ship. To pass the time, Patty practiced her knitting.
Starting with a kit that included wooden needles and a ball of yarn, she soon ran out of the yarn.
The only additional supplies Ruth could find to go with the maroon wool yarn was a spool of varigated
crochet cotton. The multi-colored cotton would fade from, blue to red to green to orange, etc.
The resulting scarf was rather unusual looking.
