Paula Deen Inspired Sugar Free BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
¾ cup Heinz reduced sugar ketchup (or Pace Salsa)
½ cup water
½ cup apple cider vinegar
3 Tbsp lemon juice + zest of 1 lemon
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp yellow mustard
1 ½ Tbsp Colgin mesquite liquid smoke
½ tsp xanthan gum (to thicken)
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
½ tsp cinnamon
¾ cup sugar equivalent (optional)
Instructions
- Combine ketchup, water, vinegar, Worcestershire, lemon juice & zest, mustard, and liquid smoke in a sauce pan over medium heat.
- Once the sauce starts to heat up add xanthan gum and whisk very quickly until all of the gum is incorporated. Add in spices and sweetener.
- Let cool and store in a squeeze bottle or jar.
