The Great Wall Of China
Tour Day Four: Tuesday, April 24, 2001
| |
The first, second, and third towers show prominently in this view taken from near a shady rest area.
The pictures on the previous page were taken from inside and near the first tower while Pat waited for Owen to complete his climb to the second tower.
|
The area at the base of this building is reminiscent of the "fish bowl" built into the wall at the City Gate of Xi'an. To gain access to the city one is first admitted to this area. If the party wanting access is determined to be an enemy, he is trapped in the fish bowl for disposal by the defenders.
Feat Accomplished!
The Exit Stairway Begins In This Building.
This is the way we came in. And now that he's "climbed the Great Wall"
we can head down those stairs and find our soft seats on the bus.
We will visit the Ming Tombs next.
