The Longmen Bridge
The Chinese, isolated from the rest of the world by mountains, deserts and the oceans advanced their civilization and solved their problems in different ways than others. They invented and perfected the arch bridge hundreds of years before the Europeans. Marco Polo visited when Europe was still in the dark ages. He was amazed to see cities with populations approaching one-million people in the 13th century!
