On the Dubrovnik City Wall
Missed by the Serb Canons, these roofs carry the patina of age.
Here we see old roofs beside some new ones. There is some color variation in the nearest new roof, and the other new roofs appear to be a monochromatic red-orange.

There is a story connected to the tile roofs of Dubrovnik. The old tiles are quite beautiful and lent lots of character to Dubrovnik. Many if not most roofs suffered major damage in the war and had to be replaced. The citizens of Dubrovnik wanted to maintain the character of the old roof tiles, so they attempted to reproduce them. The raw material, clay, had been obtained from a certain source. Clay with these particular color characteristics was available only from this one place. When they attempted to order more, they found out that the supply of raw material had been completely depleted, which in due course forced them to use the new red tiles used today. Some of the pictures I took with contrasting roof tiles were to show the juxtaposition of old and new. Eventually the old tiles will completely disappear!

Sentry Lookout Station and Shelter
This is probably the one near the center of the southern section of the wall.
On the Old Town map, it should be near the yellow 4 in the tiny gray rectangle in Section C.
