The success of the village inns was because of its proximity to Bath.
This was a stopover for travelers on their way to the baths which have been popular since Roman times. This quaint village deserves a stopover for modern travelers too.

Travelers have stopped at the George Inn in Norton St. Philip on the way to Bath for hundreds of years. We have made our stop here, and now we will continue on our way to Bath.
We will visit the ancient Roman baths while we are there.
