A Trip To A Murano Glass Factory Photos by Pat Tyler
|
This is our Venetian Taxi Driver
We arrived at the hotel too early for check in, so they sent us off on a trip to to a Murano glass factory. That trip was planned for the next day, so we were pleased to have the free taxi ride out there.
Looking through the taxi windshield, you can see the bridge we had to tote the luggage over. There are quite a few steps up one side and the same number down the other side.
Gondola and other traffic on the Grand Canal
11:00 AM ~ Parked in front of the hotel, we watched the busy traffic as our driver waited
to back out of the parking space so that we could be on our way to Murano Island.
We were soon past the Rialto Bridge and on our way to Rio D. Gesuiti and the lagoon beyond.

Notice the iron bars attached to the front wall of the building. One is above the porch column and the other near the corner. These are used to hold cables stretched through the building in place. These are used for stabilization.
